Since its inception in 1967, the Krugerrand has become the most widely owned gold bullion coin in the world. The South African Krugerrand was the first modern government-issued gold bullion coin. The coin features images of the Springbok – the symbol of South Africa – and the last President of the South African Republic Paul Kruger.
